      1. no fruit = why cumbereth it the ground?
      2. It still draws nutrients/resources from the soil/church.
      3. It’s not that we don’t want those type of people here (unless they’re anti-soulwinning)
      4. I want to provoke you to good works and make you realise your inaction has an effect on others.
      5. Dung is good for a tree, even though it isn’t always pleasant smelling.
      6. Those of us who are older in the faith shouldn’t be discouraged, we ought to bear the burden of the younger people in Christ. Like we suffer the little children in church.

  3. Application for us to consider
    1. Succumbing to sin is never worth it

2 Timothy 4
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions (crown of life), do the work of an evangelist (crown of rejoicing), make full proof of thy ministry (crown of glory).
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

    2. Finish your course – so easy to be excited and then fall away (stony ground hearer)
    3. Don’t compare yourself to others, we will be judged according to our own ability. Are you doing your best?

Crown of THORNS

John 19
1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
